10 Fool-Proof Ways To Save The Terminator Franchise

7. Utilise Matt Smith

One of the least-bad ideas in Terminator Genisys is giving Skynet a physical form. Skynet could now be a tangible villain, rather than just existing in hushed whispers. Matt Smith seems like perfect casting, too. From his years as Doctor Who, we€™ve seen him display a vast range of acting skills, including (in Neil Gaiman€™s Cybermen story, Nightmare In Silver) a highly intelligent half humanoid/half robot mash-up. He certainly has the chops to embody Skynet. The problem is what they did with him. Skynet€™s plan to time travel back and infiltrate the Resistance isn€™t a bad way to gather intelligence on the enemy, but ditching your nuclear plans and developing a deadly app instead doesn€™t seem too smart. Surely, with the mind of Skynet and the body of a T-5000 (which has the ability to turn organic matter into T-3000 series Terminators), Matt Smith€™s character should be the ultimate Terminator. You can€™t kill him, you can€™t outthink him, you can€™t even touch him. If the powers that be could make him an actual villain, and not just an under-utilised idea, Matt Smith€™s Skynet could provide the unstoppable adversary that Genisys lacked.
