10 Gaping Plot-Holes Hollywood Thought You'd Miss

6. Why Doesn't Indy Fall To His Death? (Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade)

One of the best scenes in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade comes near the end, when Indy (Harrison Ford) has to spell out God's name on the floor in order to make it to the other side. After stepping on "J" for Jesus, Indy falls but manages to hold onto another stone and pull himself. However, given that he pulls himself up using the rocks with letters "L" and "Y" on, surely they should have broken away instantly, killing Indy? Instead, Indy gets to continue from this position punishment-free, to complete the word which, of course, is not Jesus, but Jehova. It's a good thing Spielberg's classic finale to the Indy series (I still deny the presence of a fourth film) is so ridiculously charming, otherwise I might've noticed this one years ago.
