A major figure in the musicals scene of golden age Hollywood, Ann Miller racked up many an accolade for her work including a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. In a time where musicals had the kind of popularity and exposure in cinema that superhero flicks have these days, Miller stood out as one of the definitive stars of her generation.

Considered a dance prodigy in her childhood, Miller’s breakout roles included hits such as Stage Door (1937) opposite Ginger Rogers and Best Picture Winner You Can’t Take It With You (1938).

It was in the late 1940s that she really hit her stride whilst working for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer with hits such as Easter Parade and On The Town.

With the studio system coming to an end in the late '50s, Miller moved more into television and onto Broadway where she astounded audiences with her abilities in productions of Mame and Sugar Babies, among others.

Miller passed away in 2004 at the age of 80, three years after her final performance on film, David Lynch’s surrealist favourite Mulholland Drive.
