10 Great James Bond Stories We Haven't Seen On Film

3. Colonel Sun Colonel Sun focuses on Bond's attempts to track down the kidnappers of M, who was taken from his home in front of Bond, as well as his discovery of a communist Chinese plot to cause a new world war, by implicating the British in a major international incident. Assisted by a Greek spy working with the Russians, 007 discovers M on a small Aegean island, rescues him and kills his kidnappers - Colonel Sun Liang-tan and Von Richter, a former Nazi commander. Until Sebastian Faulk's Devil May Care was released in 2008, Colonel Sun was the closest thing to a Fleming-like Bond novel, which makes sense given the proximity of its release to Fleming's death. Author Kingsley Amis, working under a psuedonym captures the essence of a good Bond film, and while elements of the story have been used in past Bond movies - M's kidnap in The World Is Not Enough and the name of Die Another Day's villain Colonel Tan-Sun Moon, there is still definitely enough scope to adapt the story in a future Bond in line with the rest of the plot.
