6. Jurassic Park

As Steven Spielberg's Jurassic Park begins to amp up, the majority of the 2nd act takes place during a night time thunderstorm. We get our first glimpse of the deadly T-Rex as he hops the disabled electric fence for a midnight snack out in the rain. The use of thunder and rain adds to the desperation of the characters, as their only shelter and safe haven from not only the storm but the ravenous dinosaur is inside their tour Jeep. Even though CGI was still in it's infancy when Jurassic Park came out in 1993, the effects still manage to be believable and realistic in the rain, which is always a hard thing to replicate. Spielberg uses the sights and sounds of the storm to add even more tension, as he creates a feeling of dread on a much more epic scale.
