Most comic-book inspired franchises are criticised for their lack of finality in their stories (due to that sweet, sweet franchise revenue) but this has been rectified in recent years due to films such as Logan and Avengers: Endgame.
A film adaptation of the classic Superman tale ''Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow has the potential to join the ranks of the aforementioned 'final films'.
The story sees Lois Lane being interviewed ten years after the last appearance of Superman. She recounts the exposure of his secret identity, the ensuing attacks on his loved ones by his foes and his final standoff before disappearing into the frozen wasteland surrounding the Fortress of Solitude.
The film's cast of characters would be unlike anything seen in a Superman film before, and the large assortment of villains would push the Man of Steel to his limits and beyond in a way rarely seen on the silver screen. It could also give the character a sense of finality, should Henry Cavill ever choose to hang the cape and boots.
