10 Harry Potter Fan Theories Confirmed By JK Rowling

1. Dumbledore As Death

This one may be a little bit of a cheat but in this world of magic and fairytales, do the rules really matter at all? The theory is that from the Tale of the Three Brothers, from the Deathly Hallows, Dumbledore is Death, Voldemort seeks the Elder Wand, Snape is after the Resurrection Stone and, frankly, Harry just wants to be left alone, so he asks for the Invisibility Cloak.

When asked on Twitter which fan theory that she liked the most, Rowling immediately jumped on this one. She said that it fit the story perfectly. This throws the entire franchise into a different light because it both dials up the importance of fate in the stories and suggests that Dumbledore knew more than he ever really let on.

We knew that he was at least partly all-seeing, so casting him as Death really does fit. How many times has Harry come close to death, but never been overcome by it? And for how long did Snape spend mourning Lily, even if we didn't know that until the final book? There is another aspect to it, which is Death's arrogance. Dumbledore is more or less in control of Snape's destiny, as Death controls the second brother. He also is the only way for Voldemort to get the Elder Wand, which fits the first brother. But he has no control over Harry, despite his careful plans.

In the end, he and Harry truly were equals, just like Death and the third brother.
