10 Harsh Truths About The MCU Fans Won't Admit

2. The Heroes Are Too Powerful Now

It's can feel a little petty to start saying that superhero characters are too strong, but while earlier instalments in the MCU franchise reached heights of Thor, Vision or the Incredible Hulk, it seems later and more recent films have taken the liberty to make almost all the heroes virtually indestructible.

With the introduction of Doctor Strange, Scarlet Witch, the Eternals, Captain Marvel and the eventual inclusion of characters such as Professor X, all their powers combined make them an assuredly unstoppable collective force. Whatever looming, dangerous threat Marvel Studios might have for our heroes doesn't necessarily feel so ominous knowing there are immortal godly figures on the side of the angels.

Long ago (ten years) the rules, vulnerabilities and a hierarchy of strength within the assembly of heroes could be established quite easily amongst the team; but nowadays fans would be hard-pressed to legitimately put some sort of scale together for these lovable rogues.

When the individual protagonists are constantly reaching new heights of unbelievable strength, the phrase "too powerful" can become an actual concern for any emotional investment we might have for the characters on screen. We cannot feel panic or concern for the characters on screen when their own punches could literally put holes in mountains.

Fans and audiences want their heroes to be underdogs, and Captain Marvel and Doctor Strange aren't really underdogs if they have all the power in the world.

I overthink a lot of things. Will talk about pretty much anything for a great length of time. I'm obsessed with General Slocum from the 2002 Spider-Man film. I have questions that were never answered in that entire trilogy!
