The Happening is one of the most ridiculed movies of all time, and one which you can't help but imagine director M. Night Shyamalan wishes he could take back. Hell, Shyamalan would probably go all the way back to just after
The Sixth Sense if he had the chance, but that's a discussion for another time.
The Happening, anyway, is a terrible movie - illogical and boring, it made a lot of people unhappy, because they went outside and spent money to see it. One of the "things" that occurs throughout the movie, though, concerns Alma (Zooey Deschanel), who is continuously called by a guy named Joey, a man whom she may or may not be having an affair with. And Joey, who we hear say "Hello?" over the end of the telephone, is M. Night Shyamalan. This is, surprisingly, one of the director's least in-your-face cameos, given that he's played much larger roles in most of his other movies. Still, even "Hello?" seems like too much Shyamalan to deal with. Just... go away, M. Night Shymalan. What are you doing?
