10 Highest Paid Actors & Their Lowest Grossing Movies

5. Denzel Washington - For Queen & Country

891322

Salary: $20 million per movie

He's been in movies for going on 40 years now and in that time Denzel Washington has racked up a career of interesting, charismatic, powerful and iconic performances in everything from Glory to his Oscar-winning Training Day and beyond.

His bankable headlining presence for audiences has thus allowed him to command paychecks with an awful lot of zeroes on it, landing him in the coveted $20 million per film club that aspiring actors can only dream of. His recent roles in 2 Guns and The Equalizer continued to make sure he belonged on that list and he's likely to receive the same amount for sequels to those.

Lowest Grossing Film: For Queen & Country (1988) - $191k

In the late '80s, Washington starred in this crime drama as a paratrooper in the British army who joined to escape a life of crime in inner city London. After fighting in the bloody Falkland's war, he returns home only to find that society both ignores and challenges him as he tries to adjust to a normal life.

Despite receiving some positive reviews - and recently being reevaluated as an interesting critique of Thatcherism - the film was a box office dud.
