10 Horror Films You Didn't Know Were Being Remade

2. Witchboard

Time for a real deep cut now, with 1986's Witchboard - a deliriously entertaining possession movie which, despite being panned by critics upon release, has endured as something of a cult fave ever since.

Even so, it's considerably more low-key than the other movies on this list - even with the release of two (unrelated and admittedly poorly received) sequels - enough that surely few were expecting it to be remade almost 40 years later.

But indeed, a remake of Kevin Tenney's stylish horror romp was recently confirmed to already be deep into production in Montreal, with the ensemble cast being led by Stranger Things' Jamie Campbell Bower.

Direction will be undertaken by Chuck Russell, who while celebrated earlier in his career for the likes of A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors, The Blob remake, and The Mask, has largely been producing low-rent VOD action thrillers in recent years.

As such it's tough to hold out much hope for this one, but it'd sure be great to be wrong.
