10 Horror Franchises That Need A Revival
5. Silent Hill
2006's Silent Hill remains one of the best-crafted and most faithful video game adaptations of all time, and despite its flaws, it was certainly a franchise-worthy effort.
A sequel, Silent Hill: Revelation, was quietly released in 2012 with 40% of the original's budget, and despite being profitable, it made barely half of what the first film did. Between this and near-universal scorn from critics and fans alike, Revelation instantly killed any chance of a third movie.
As much of a slam-dunk as a Silent Hill reboot movie seems, its prospects are lessened significantly by the fact that the video game series has been on the skids for years and hasn't released a mainline entry since 2012 (and a good one for even longer).
Even without the brand awareness, though, Silent Hill should be able to sell itself on its easily-marketable title and uniquely creepy visuals. There are so many directions a new movie could go in, but adapting the tone of the games with entirely new characters is probably the way forward.
