The three-movie Cloverfield franchise is a bit of unique beast, in that the two existing sequels - 10 Cloverfield Lane and The Cloverfield Paradox - were both initially planned as different, standalone films that ultimately ended up being tweaked to fit in with the world established in that first Cloverfield offering.

Where the upcoming fourth Cloverfield picture is concerned, this will actually be a direct sequel to Matt Reeves' 2008 original film. As is often the case with the Cloverfield property, though, details are being kept close to the chest on what we can expect from this film.

What we do know, is that I Came By's Babak Anvari is directing this to-be-titled Cloverfield movie, with The Ritual's Joe Barton having put together the screenplay. It's also been noted how, unlike the first Cloverfield, this new film will not take a found-footage approach.

Interestingly, Slusho.com - the website for a fictional drink from the 2008 movie - has recently been relaunched, with franchise fans eager to explore that site in the hope of finding some Cloverfield 4 clues.
