10 Horror Movie Douchebags Who Actually Survived
1. Alejandro - The Green Inferno
Eli Roth's cannibal horror film is a deeply disturbing satire of insincere liberal "do-gooders," following a group of activists who visit the Amazon rainforest to stop a petrochemical company from displacing a native tribe - a tribe which happens to be cannibalistic.
The leader of the group is the handsome, Che Guevara-esque Alejandro (Ariel Levy), who is soon enough revealed to be a total fraud of an activist, having undertaken the forest protest to benefit a separate petrochemical group he's actually in league with.
Alejandro also actively attempts to inhibit the others' survival once all hell breaks loose, and while it seems like Roth is setting him up for a magnificently brutal death, he miraculously survives.
Better still, Alejandro ends up joining the cannibal tribe and possibly even becoming its leader, the particulars of which are left somewhat ambiguous.
Much as The Green Inferno was all about subverting audience expectations, it sure was infuriating to see Alejandro make it to the credits in one piece.
