10 Horror Movie Moments You'll Never Be Able To Unsee

Few scenes in modern cinema have made people look away in abject disgust quite as much as this scene from Bone Tomahawk. 

For those unfamiliar, Bone Tomahawk is a horror-western hybrid that sees a posse of gunslingers, led by Kurt Russell's Sheriff Franklin Hunt, trying to rescue some kidnapped locals from a tribe of inbred cannibals that live in the desolate wastes of the wild west.

Naturally, things turn ugly pretty fast when the two opposing groups collide, with all manner of murder and bloodshed. That said, there's one scene in particular that unfortunately lives rent-free in most people's heads.

After being captured by the tribe, our questionable group of heroes is forced to watch one of their ranks be viciously scalped. That alone is pretty horrifying, but it's swiftly followed by the scalped man being held upside down whilst a tomahawk splits him down the middle, crotch first - all the while two other tribesmen pull him in half by his legs.

Off the back of Bone Tomahawk, director S. Craig Zahler has become known for garnishing his films with shocking examples of ultraviolence, though nothing else he's ever put to film has quite matched the potency of what Bone Tomahawk was able to achieve. 

Truly harrowing stuff, indeed.
