2000 may have seen Mark Schultz and Mel Rubi serve up the Alien versus Predator versus The Terminator book for Darkhorse Comics, but the ties between the Predator and Terminator franchises actually date back to 1991.

Back in '91, Terminator 2: Judgment Day roared to the silver screen, wowing with its revolutionary special effects work, and completely flipping one of the basic fundamentals of the first movie - as in, the T-800 is really, really bad - on its head.

This time out, Arnold Schwarzenegger's T-800 unit is one of the good guys; sent back from the future to protect Sarah Connor and her son John from the sinister liquid metal form of Robert Patrick's T-1000. At one point in T2, we see the T-800's mission helped out by a minigun.

To be specific, that minigun is an M-134A2 Vulcan. And to be even more specific, it's the same gun prop that was seen throughout 1987's Predator.

Of course, Predator also starred Schwarzenegger, although he didn't get to wield this weapon in John McTiernan's film. Instead, it was left to Bill Duke's Mac and Jesse Ventura's Blain to handle the minigun in Predator.

What Arnold did get to play with in Predator, mind, was the same M203 grenade launcher prop used by Al Pacino's Tony Montana in Scarface.
