8. Dear Rat Boy - V/H/S/94

What if I was to tell you that in the sewer system below your city there was a weird cult worshipping a big humanoid rat? Would you believe me? In the current state of the world, I’d believe me.

That’s essentially what happens in one short in V/H/S/94, where a news anchor and her cameraman enter the city sewers in search of a mysterious homeless population living down there.

They get a lot more than they bargained for when they find the people aren’t just peacefully existing underground, rather they are subjects under a rat king of sorts named Raatma. Big Ratty emerges from a tunnel within the tunnels and lets out a howl, and we see his messed up rodent face in all its glory.

When we cut to the news broadcast and see our anchor has survived to tell the tale (literally), we think, “oh nice, our rat overlord spared her! What a merciful and gracious king!” That is until she vomits up some corrosive black goo and proclaims “hail Raatma.”

It seems the rat-obsession is contagious, get ready for the next viral trend. W for Raatma, he’d clean up on TikTok.
