10 Horror Movie Villains Who Returned More Badass

4. The Purgers - The Purge: Anarchy

The first movie in the Purge series, which was released in 2013, set up quite an intriguing premise.

One day a year, for 12 hours, all crime is legal and people are left to fend for themselves against the rampaging hordes. Unfortunately, the movie forgot to include the whole “rampaging hordes” part, as most of the action was set inside one family’s home.

Thankfully, this issue was addressed in the sequel, 2014’s The Purge: Anarchy.

In this film, the narrative follows multiple characters as they attempt to survive the night. This way, the audience is actually able to see some of the darker acts Purgers are willing to commit, such as burning down subway tunnels and paying to murder a terminally ill man.

Anarchy was far from perfect, but it felt more true to its premise than the original. Instead of your bog standard home invaders that exist outside of the Purge universe, these villains felt like an original idea - an unhinged mob capable of just about anything to satisfy their animalistic desires.

Ultimately, this instalment would be among the high points of the whole franchise.
