10 Horror Movies That Had No Right To Be This Good
5. Tucker And Dale Vs Evil
Parody in horror is the kind of thing that either works wonderfully or falls completely flat. Cabin in the woods? Brilliant! A Haunted House? Not so great. What We Do In The Shadows? Fantastic! Scary Movie 5? Yikes. Tucker and Dale Vs Evil is one of those movies that probably should sit with the losers, but it absolutely doesn't.
The movie follows a duo of well-meaning hillbillies (Tucker and Dale) who are on a trip to their mountainside cabin in the woods. Unfortunately, things get awkward when they're mistaken for serial killers by a group of preppy college kids, leading to hilarious (and bloody) hijinks.
While the concept is genius, you'd think it would run dry quickly as it has to rely on one comedic misunderstanding for the story to function. However, the film does an amazing job of constantly upping the stakes and making the scenario wilder and wilder. Thus, it never gets old and only goes from strength to strength.
It would also be remiss not to mention the electric chemistry of Alan Tudyk and Tyler Labine as the titular pair. They play off each other wonderfully, and Labine especially gives one of the most likeable leading performances in horror.
