10 Iconic Batman Comics That Should Be Movies (But Won't Ever Be)

10. Batman: Hush

It's hard to deny that Batman has the strongest rogues gallery of any comic book hero; a tradition that started way back in the first issue of Batman, where both Catwoman and the Joker first made their debut. Writer Jeph Loeb makes full use of these characters in his expansive story lines, often choosing to include as many of Batman's villains as possible. In theory, this approach should feel cluttered or detract from the individual impact from each character, but Loeb has mastered this complex juggling act in epic tales such as The Long Halloween and Hush. The story of Hush revolves around the appearance of a mysterious new villain who manipulates the people in Batman's life to take him down once and for all. With all the super heroics and souped up battle suits, it's easy to forget sometimes that Bruce Wayne is also renowned for being the World's Greatest Detective, a trait showcased throughout the central mystery of Hush. There's a lot here that would work cinematically and if done successfully, a Batman film based on Hush could be his most epic cinematic outing yet. The problem here is that Loeb's plot makes full use of Batman's extensive supporting cast, drawing on appearances from numerous sidekicks, allies and long-term enemies. A romantic sub-plot between Batman and Catwoman alone could take up a huge amount of screen time if given the attention it deserves, so it would be extremely difficult to balance this cast, especially now when the DC Cinematic Universe is still so fresh and new. Even further down the line though, it's hard to imagine the budgetary requirements and sheer logistics required to remain faithful to the original story.
