9. The Xenomorphs
The Xenomorph aliens were first encountered in Alien when the Nostromo ship investigated a distress signal on a planetoid LV-426. Their investigations resulted in a face-hugger attacking Kane, then bursting out of his chest and going on the rampage, until being destroyed by Ripley.
Prometheus and Alien: Covenant gave us an origin story for the Aliens, when we found out that android David, who was created by the Weyland Corporation in 2030, was the original bio-engineer of the aliens. He arrived at an unknown but habitable planet on the Prometheus and managed to bring alien embryos aboard the Covenant by impersonating their android Walter.
Alien vs Predator proceeded to completely negate this origin story when it revealed that the Predators had been breeding Xenomorphs for hundreds of years on Earth in order for them to hunt them as a rite of passage for young adults. This not only questions their origin, but also how they had managed to escape the notice of humans after being on their planet for so many years!
