With Star Trek Into Darkness on the horizon, it would be foolish to miss out the chance to adapt a musical of the movie. And yes, because musicals are a harder sell, we are going with Nu-Trek. We need hot. We need sexy. We need fresh. The origin of the SS Enterprise could make a great musical. Many old folk songs of yore told stories of heroes and how they became the legends that they are commonly known as. What bigger legend is there an that of James Kirk? The scale of the production would be a real treat to behold and seeing the bridge recreated on stage while Spock and Kirk sing a duet would be an incredible. With flashy lights, the right set dressing and right casting, all jokes aside, I would pay to see it and not even 'ironically'. Even if we just see a carbon copy of the first movie, the use of songs and staging would be exciting to see recreated live. Songs: "My name is James Tiberius Kirk!" " Are you out of your Vulcan mind?" "Space is disease and danger wrapped in darkness and silence." "Sabotage" by the Beastie Boys
