10 Incredible Horror Movies You’ll Never Watch Again (And Why)

1. The Blair Witch Project

When it comes to the most influential movies in the genre, it doesn't get much bigger than The Blair Witch Project. While far from the first found-footage movie, it was one of the first to fully embrace viral marketing and a then-burgeoning Internet culture.

The success of Blair Witch is as much about the format and the cultural conversation as it is about the movie itself, as it was the mystique of what this film was and its supposed realism that drew in a massive crowd.

The flick itself is solid, but does struggle decades later now that the found-footage tropes it helped establish are, well, established. The movie's shaky cam, ambiguous plot and focus on the victims as opposed to the monsters works, but with so many movies like it releasing since, its effectiveness has been lessened somewhat.

So, while The Blair Witch Project is a must-watch for any horror fan, there have been so many flicks that have taken what it started and innovated in more entertaining ways.

The phenomenon that was the Blair Witch Project is worth returning to, but the film itself not so much.
