10 Incredible Horror Movies You’ll Never Watch Again (And Why)

7. Inland Empire

The House That Jack Built
Studio Canal/Absurda

Inland Empire is... a movie. It is absolutely a movie. That's the only thing I know about it for certain.

That's because David Lynch's last theatrical effort is the most David Lynch movie the director has ever made. His past work is well known for being challenging, weird and sometimes downright bizarre to a fault, but all of them (with the exception of maybe Eraserhead) pale in comparison to how much of a sensory assault Inland Empire is.

About an actress in Hollywood (played by Lynch staple Laura Dern) whose reality starts to blend with the movie she's making, the three-hour long flick is essentially one waking nightmare that, in dreamlike fashion, goes on huge tangents.

You've got a weird short about a domesticated family of rabbits in there, a phantom man who haunts hallways, and a bunch of other weird, freaky scenes that make barely any sense.

It works well to unsettle, but it's so impenetrable that you're not going to want to sit through all of it again.
