10 Insane Castings That Almost Ruined Comic Book Movies

5. John Krasinski As Captain America

john_krasinski27 The internet might have grumbled an almighty complaint at the very suggestion that Fantastic Four alumnus Chris Evans could take on one of the most famous American comic book character, seemingly breaking an unwritten rule that noone could appear in two separate comic book strands, but it could have been worse. Though Evans turned out great, the ideal solution was in fact Neal McDonough - blonde of hair, blue of eyes and lantern of jaw - who could have combined the ideal wholesome look with a physical presence and acting chops to make the film more than "just a comic book movie." So quite why the studio almost cast Extras good guy John Krasinski in the role is beyond me. Sure, he would have been good as the nerdy, weakling who would become the superhero after treatment of the super-soldier serum, but the idea of him as Cap himself just don't wash very well. He is too much like the good guy sidekick ( perhaps mostly because of his Office role), and there is very little in his working background that really suggests he would have been anything but a jarring choice. But then I suppose Evans wasn't seen as an ideal choice either...
