1. Hulk Gets A Rematch With Thanos - Avengers: Endgame
The Rumour
After Thanos summarily kicked Hulk's ass at the start of Avengers: Infinity War, fans were eagerly anticipating a rematch between the two in Endgame.
Rumours soon enough circulated that we'd indeed get to see Hulk vs. Thanos #2, a sliver of information which was seemingly corroborated by merchandise leaks and didn't appear inherently ridiculous in of itself.
Yet what catapulted the rumour into the realm of absurdity was a "leaked" trailer description which claimed the movie would feature a sequence where Hulk trains to get into shape for round two, culminating in him saying to Captain America (Chris Evans), "My rematch is coming real soon, I can feel it!"
That ridiculous, iconic line became a meme long before Endgame was released, with fans divided on whether or not it could possibly be real.
What Actually Happened
Neither the line nor Hulk training to fight Thanos turned out to be true, but more surprisingly, Endgame came and went without the two goliaths actually having a rematch at all.
While Endgame certainly didn't leave fans wanting for action, it's a shame Hulk never got to give the Mad Titan a decisive beatdown.
