10 Legendary Musicians Who Deserve Their Own Biopics (And Who Could Play Them)

4. Morrissey (The Smiths) - Matt Smith

BiopicmorrisseyThe Premise: A working class lad from Manchester doesn't want to get a job like everyone else. His love of poetry and pop music sees him form one of the most formidable songwriting partnerships of all time, but he's still regarded as an outsider. A bequiffed and unlikely fashion icon, who found himself on a huge stage when he was young, only to be regarded as a complete eccentric: it's a description that fits both Morrissey, frontman of The Smiths, and Eleventh Doctor, Matt Smith. Smith is a huge music fan himself, and would make an excellent Morrissey. He's proven that he's capable of playing the otherworldly, the childlike and the poetic, and then there's the striking similarity, from the hair-line to the chin. Smith would no doubt deliver an intriguing portrayal of 80s era Mozza, and there are few other actors that could handle the contrasting elements of his personality; he's a character who's androgynous, intimidating, hilarious and often, extremely cantankerous. They're both huge fans of tea, too, as seen in Victoria Wood's BBC documentary, Nice Cup of Tea, last year. The only thing missing is Matt's lack of eyebrows... but we can get some stick-on ones, right?
