10 Legitimate Criticisms Of The Avengers

3. Loki Getting So Easily Whupped By The Hulk

Hulk Smash Loki I don't think Loki could beat Hulk in a fight €“ I'll get that out the way now. The fact is that even Hulk struggled to impose himself on the jolly green giant, so his more cerebral 'brother' was always going to come up the loser in any duel. But still, I can't help but feel the whole thing was a bit of an anticlimax. The final act of an awesome villain (let's face it, Tom Hiddleston's magnificent in the part) saw him treated like a ragdoll for an easy laugh. Don't get me wrong, I laughed, but as I went away from the cinema, sat down in my favourite rocking chair (you should see it, it's amazing), the more disconcerted I became. Again, I didn't think that was any way for him to go out, and I'll explain why. Look, I've already said that Loki would get overpowered by the Hulk, but still, I didn't think it would be that easy. Remember, not a quarter of an hour ago the God of Mischief was holding his own against Thor, so he's clearly pretty handy in a fight, and Hulk and Thor seemed pretty equal when they tore through the Helicarrier. He could've made a probably made a better fist of it, is what I'm saying. As it was, we saw an iconic villain get an awful payoff. To use a terrible analogy, it was like Batman (bollocks, I wasn't supposed to mention him) instantly giving The Joker a wedgie at their final encounter in TDK €“ sure, he might've got there eventually, but to put it front and centre just casts an absurd downer on everything.
