10 Lessons Comic Book Movies Can Learn From Guardians Of The Galaxy

5. Don't Bog The Film Down With Forty Five Minute Fight Scenes

This is a flaw that most superhero - and action movies in general - are guilty of, but Marvel Studios' films seem to be especially terrible for this. With that dreaded formula already mentioned again raising its puss filled head, you can almost guarantee that the latest Marvel film will end with a long and drawn out fight scene. While there is a fight scene at the end of Guardians the way Gun and co break it up makes it feel exciting and varied. By keeping up the lightning fast pace and switching between multiple showdowns, Gunn gets away with this. Just as the fighting starts to grow stale he injects some of his trademark humour into the final showdown, keeping the film as self parodying and fun as the story that preceded it. No one likes a fight scene that's more drawn out than a drunken Emmy acceptance speech. Take note future film directors - that's how it's done, boys.
