10 MCU Complaints That Make No Damn Sense

5. The Third Acts All Suck

The Argument

Marvel know how to build, but they can't manage the pay-offs. Their movies lack third acts that live up to the hype, even in the tent-poles to end them all - the Avengers team-ups.

The Rebuttal

What you're doing there is only remembering The Avengers. When the Chitauri were literally dropped into the fray to escalate the climax, it was unearned, they lacked all of their threat and it fooled nobody. Sure, there was some entertainment factor to it, but it wasn't sufficient or satisfying.

But aside from that, the pay-offs have ranged from fine to brilliant. Even Thor: The Dark World's dimension-hopping final fight and Loki's death are the film's only high-point. And around that you have the highs of Ant-Man's ridiculous miniature fight, Civil War's brutal three-way fight and Zemo's revelation, Guardians Of The Galaxy's emotional pay-off... Some of the MCU's most emotional moments come in those final acts.
