One of the most defining characteristics of the MCU's first two phases were the so-called 'One Shots' which featured as extras on many of the film's home media releases

These 'One Shots' were short self-contained stories which provided more backstory for events and characters introduced during the MCU's main films. This included a look at Trevor Slattery's post-'Mandarin' prison stint and another examining the state of New York City following the Chitauri invasion.

Two of the projects, Item 47 and Agent Carter, even formed the basis of television shows set within the MCU. However, despite their positive reception, none have been produced since 2014's All Hail The King, which appeared alongside Thor: The Dark World.

There was a brief glimmer of hope with the release of Taika Waititi's spoof mockumentary Team Thor alongside Thor: Ragnarok, but any news on a permenant return has still proved elusive.

When asked about their absence during the AMAA, Feige stopped short of confirming their return, but did reveal that the new MCU Disney + series will be following a similar tone.
