10 Minor Characters Who Would've Broken Star Wars

In terms of Mon Mothma's position as the leader of the Rebellion, she's hardly a minor character.

Much like Bail Organa, she's not given anywhere near the sort of screentime you'd expect for someone with such an important role to play, and it's easy to forget just how she shaped the narrative arc of the Skywalker Saga.

Her first onscreen appearance was in Return of the Jedi in a small supporting role, went on to briefly appear in Revenge of the Sith, and Mothma also featured in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

She was the driving force behind the rescue of Jyn Erso in order to employ her help in obtaining the Death Star plans, an act which directly set up the events of A New Hope (and, by extension, the entire original trilogy). Mothma also facilitated and organised the attack on the second Death Star; the destruction of which brought about the end of the Empire and Mothma's rise to to the head of the New Republic.

Mothma made countless choices both on and off-screen throughout the saga that shaped the story to come, and even one different decision could have derailed Star Wars as we know it.
