10 Minor Characters Who Would've Broken Star Wars

3. Lor San Tekka

Despite being portrayed by legendary character actor Max von Sydow, Lor San Tekka had a seemingly tiny role in the saga, appearing only for the briefest of moments at the opening of the sequel trilogy before being murdered by Kylo Ren.

Almost all of Lor San Tekka's importance exists behind the story, but he was instrumental in shaping the fate of the galaxy post-Return of the Jedi.

During Imperial rule, San Tekka was a member of the Church of the Force, following Jedi teaching and ideals despite not being Force-sensitive. This led him to uncover and protect much of the Jedi's history and lore, which naturally made him an invaluable ally to Luke Skywalker.

San Tekka became one of Skywalker's most trusted friends, and he was the only man who knew where Luke had gone into hiding. His decision to give Resistance fighter Poe Dameron the map to Skywalker set the wheels of the sequel trilogy in motion, and without San Tekka, Rey would never have found the Jedi and mastered her abilities.

He might have only had a short time on-screen, but he used it wisely.
