10 More Great Horror Movie Scenes When Evil Characters Turned Good

7. Vinnie Distephano - Alien: Resurrection

Although the Xenomorphs were rendered extinct in Alien 3, the corrupt Weyland-Yutani corporation brought them back to life in Alien: Resurrection, believing they could control the acid-blooded starbeasts.

Surprise, surprise, the Xenomorphs break free from their cells shortly after they reach maturity. As a result, Ripley (who's been cloned back to life) allies with a group of mercenaries, the lead scientist Dr. Wren, and his henchman Vinnie Distephano.

Distephano makes it clear upon his first encounter with the mercs that he's willing to blow their brains out if given the order, but when the Xenos are released, he begrudgingly teams up with them, believing in safety in numbers. After Wren betrays the team, it looks like it's only a matter of time before Distephano will follow suit. However, when Wren orders the soldier to take the mercenaries' weapons, Distephano turns on his employer, proving his loyalty has shifted.

Even though Distephano seemed like a mindless grunt at first, he established there was a line he wasn't willing to cross. Despite being set up as a generic character, you feel bad when an alien squishes Distephano's head to mush.
