4. Leatherface - The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2

Throughout the Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise, Leatherface is often depicted as a brute force of nature, driven by bloodlust.

However, the hulking cannibal shows a very different side in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2. At a glance, Leatherface seems more evil than ever, especially when he thrusts his chainsaw between the legs of the Final Girl, Stretch. The fact that the chainsaw-wielding psycho performs disgusting and lewd acts like this makes it more bizarre when he behaves in a nurturing way later.

Although he kidnaps Stretch, he's reluctantly obeying his domineering family, who easily manipulate Leatherface's fragile mind. When his family orders Leatherface to kill Stretch, he presents the peeled face of another victim as hers, literally saving her skin. This deception is a rare act of rebellion and highlights how Leatherface's actions are usually spurred by his family, further painting him as a victim rather than an outright villain.

When the local lieutenant challenges Leatherface to a chainsaw duel to give Stretch time to escape, you find yourself rooting for the man-eating maniac, knowing our heroine would've already been dead if he didn't defy his family's wishes.
