10 Most Anticipated Horror Movies Still To Come In 2024

2. Nosferatu

Universal Pictures

While some of the films featured here have summer or Halloween releases, we'll all have to wait until Christmas Day for Robert Eggers' take on Nosferatu to slink to the silver screen.

Most horror fans will be well versed in the lore of Nosferatu by now; a 1922 F.W. Murnau movie that was essentially an unlicensed adaptation of Bram Stroker's Dracula, and which was remade in 1979 by Werner Herzog and again by David Lee Fisher in 2023. With the 1922 version a seminal piece of cinema, period, and the '79 film version a masterpiece in its own right, writer/director Eggers certainly has a tall order on his hands to deliver with his adaptation of Nosferatu.

In that regard, Eggers alone has a significant fan base after delivering three glorious, vastly different films in his career to date, with The VVitch, The Lighthouse, and The Northman all wowing audiences. As for the cast, the magnificently creepy Bill SkarsgĂ„rd plays Count Orlock, Lily-Rose Depp will be in the vampire's longing gaze, and Nosferatu will also feature Nicholas Hoult, Emma Corin, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ralph Ineson, and the beloved Willem Dafoe as a crazed vampire hunter.

Release Date: 25 December
