10 Most Divisive Movies Of 2016
3. Ghostbusters
The new Ghostbusters reboot was a divisive movie long before its release when director Paul Feig announced in early 2015 his intention to replace the original movie’s male cast with an all-female one. Aghast, internet misogynists worldwide took to social media to voice their displeasure at the feminazi gimmick and when the first Ghostbusters trailer appeared online it became the most downvoted movie trailer in YouTube history.
Naturally, any reboot or remake of a beloved classic like the original Ghostbusters is going to get its fair share of flak and admittedly Feig’s reboot isn’t as good as its predecessor. But, it also wasn’t half as bad as its detractors made out scoring a very respectable 73% on Rotten Tomatoes even if it was technically a flop at the box office.
Not to mention the surviving original cast all make cameo appearances, so must’ve given the reboot their seal of approval. And anything that has Bill Murray’s approval surely can’t be that bad, right? But then again, he was in Aloha.
