10 Most Inventive Chase Sequences In Slasher Movies
1. It Follows - The Entire Film
Before anyone complains about It Follows not being a slasher, almost every review of the movie names it so. The flick is a classic slasher, while at the same time being completely fresh and new. And, of course, it also features the classic slasher movie trope: the chase scene. Only in It Follows, the scene never ends...
The movie begins with a young girl seemingly terrified of the cameraman, running away from him as he continues to follow her wherever she goes. We eventually see her body mangled on the beach, having been murdered by whoever was behind the camera.
When we meet our protagonist, she has just started dating a new guy and after a few dates they sleep together in the back of the mysterious guy's car. When he ends up chloroforming her and tying her to a wheelchair in an abandoned car park, we realise crazy stuff is about to go down.
The rest of the film follows our protagonist, Jay, as she is slowly chased by a mysterious figure that won't stop until it kills her. It might just be the longest chase scene in the history of film, and the fact it remains effective for the full runtime shows just how great an idea it is.
