10 Most Memorable Postmen on Film & TV

6. Al Goddard - Appointment With Danger

Though Kevin Costner's postman was pretty badass, he didn't have the distinction of being both a badass and actually being placed in a film that was good and entertaining to watch. Lewis Allen's 1951 film noir Appointment with Danger, however, has it all, with Alan Ladd playing Al Goddard, a detective who works for the US Postal Inspection Service, but soon finds himself drawn into some very different action altogether. Smuggled contraband and the wrong postage being applied seem like casual afterthoughts after a U.S. postal detective winds up dead, and Goddard takes it upon himself to get to the bottom of it, chasing down the only witness, a hot young nun (Phyllis Calvert). If you like your postmen with a dash of Humphrey Bogart, then this is the film for you; he goes undercover, getting in deep with the town's most despicable criminals in order to get to the bottom of the murder, and even gets to kick some ass at the film's climax.
