10 Most Overrated '80s Horror Movies
7. A Nightmare On Elm Street 3: The Dream Warriors
With A Nightmare On Elm Street being a monster hit, it looked like a new horror franchise was born. But since critics weren't won over by the follow-up, the series was seemingly in jeopardy. However, after A Nightmare On Elm Street 3: The Dream Warriors did well with critics and the box office, it was clear that Freddy Kruger was back in business.
The reason why Freddy's third outing received a lot of praise was because of the film's inventive kills. The television head smash, and the 'let's get high' scene are among the most creative moments in the series.
However, these iconic scenes emphasise the Nightmare On Elm Street's biggest problem. It was at this point where the franchise focused on creative deaths rather than interesting characters. You most certainly remember the 'Welcome to Prime Time' line or the sleepwalking puppet scene but you probably don't recall anything about the victims' personalities since they are one-note stereotypes. Since these characters are one-dimensional, you don't care what happens to them.
Even though The Dream Warriors is still the best entry in the series save for the original, that's not saying a lot considering how bad the rest of the sequels are.
