10 Most Underrated Lightsaber Duels In Star Wars History
3. Rey Vs. Kylo Ren – The Rise Of Skywalker
Kylo Ren was, by far, the most compelling character of the sequel trilogy.
His difficult to define (or even understand) relationship with Jedi Rey was at the core of the trilogy, and while the two spent as much time fighting alongside each other as they did against, it shouldn't take from the brilliance of their duel in The Rise of Skywalker.
The grandson of Darth Vader duelling with the granddaughter of Emperor Palpatine atop the ruins of the Death Star with waves furiously crashing around them was exactly the spectacle required of a movie as ambitious as The Rise of Skywalker.
It's not too hard to understand why the duel was overlooked, though. After all, The Rise of Skywalker contained a handful of lazy plot devices that sought to both over-simplify and over-complicate the end of the Skywalker saga, and naturally, a number of fans found the result to be off-putting.
But when you take this scene for what it is - sheer, epic set-piece spectacle - it's hard not to enjoy it, whether you're a fan of the franchise or not.
