10 Most Underrated MCU Villains

There have been a plethora of incredibly talented actors join the MCU over the years, with the Marvel Studios casting department doing a fantastic job mixing huge names with newcomers set to become stars. However, this job has not been without fault.

There have been occasions when brilliant actors have been brought in but handed the wrong role, something that was the case for Mads Mikkelsen in Doctor Strange. It is a consensus thought among the fans that he was wasted as Kaecilius in 2016, with this disappointment unfairly tainting the villain himself.

Yes, Mikkelsen may have been better suited to a bigger bad like Doctor Doom, but he still gave a compelling performance as the wayward master of the mystic arts. He may have lacked the necessary development to make him a truly great villain, but he certainly wasn’t as weak as many have perceived him to be.

One of the biggest problems with Kaecilius was that the rug was ripped from beneath him by Dormammu at the end, however until then he was a strong antagonist with a perfectly valid reason for his problems with the Ancient One. A bit more development in place of Dormammu and Kaecilius would likely have been up there with the best villains in the franchise.
