10 Most Unintentionally Annoying Characters In Modern Film

2. Sam Witwicky €“ Transformers

Why You€™re Supposed to Like Him: If any character is supposed to represent that young modern social-media upstart, it€™s Sam Witwicky in Transformers. He€™s sort of smart-mouthed, but respectful enough that we€™re supposed to sense his kind heart and get behind him. Plus he€™s got that whole €˜fish-out-of-water€™ thing going on, and when that€™s done right in a movie like this, it can really help to give the audience a human anchor to hold on to. When it€™s done right€. Why He€™s Annoying: Because quite simply, he€™s in a Michael Bay movie, and he€™s not so much a character as he is a two-dimensional witticism dispenser. Sure, he€™s got some funny, sarcastic dialogue but the problem is, if there€™s no actual character to back that up, funny and sarcastic translates roughly into €˜smug little bastard€™. Despite having some of the most innovative and detailed CGI I might have ever seen, thanks to the lack of any sort of emotional depth, and Witwicky is one of the main offenders here, watching the Transformers movie franchise is the cinematic equivalent of eating candy floss for dinner.
