10 Movie Characters Who Should Never Have Died
4. Nancy Thompson - A Nightmare On Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors
Combining her intelligence, bravery and resourcefulness in the very first film in the series, Nancy Thompson became one of the horror world's most iconic final girls when she took down Freddy Kreuger back in 1984.
With her arc seemingly complete, Nancy was written out of the film's sequel, Freddy's Revenge, but when audiences are introduced to a group of troubled teens at Westin Hospital in Dream Warriors, the franchise's third film, Nancy Thompson returns as an intern therapist. Having battled Freddy before, Nancy is the key cog in helping the teenagers unlock their dream powers and constantly guides them through their trials.
However, in the film's finale, Nancy is tricked by Freddy disguising as her dead father and is impaled by his knifed glove. Though she gets her own back in true final girl style by stabbing Kreuger with his own glove, Nancy does actually meet her end in Dream Warriors, succumbing to her wounds and Nancy Thompson only returning for one more film in the series, 1994's ultra-meta Wes Craven's New Nightmare.
Given how the Nightmare on Elm Street series would begin its quick demise following Dream Warriors, it's clear that Nancy's death was an error the screenwriters shouldn't have dabbled with.
