10 Movie Details That Aren’t As Important As You Think
2. John Blake's Real Name - The Dark Knight Rises
At the end of The Dark Knight Rises, Bruce Wayne essentially dumps all of his responsibilities as Batman onto John Blake before swanning off into the sunset with Catwoman.
Blake, an orphaned police officer who helps Batman defeat The League of Shadows, is left directions to The Batcave after The Caped Crusader's supposed death. Wayne also left him something else - a file that explains his real name isn't John, but "Robin".
An obvious nod to Bruce Wayne's protegee and sidekick Robin, Blake's real name got fans all in a tizz when it was revealed. Does this mean that he's going to become the Boy Wonder and take over Batman's duties? Could we see a new trilogy starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt in red spandex?
Well, we hate to be the ones to tell you, but no.
The film's director, Christopher Nolan, has revealed in interviews that Blake is not actually Robin. He stated that Robin just simply wouldn't work in his universe and that the name was just meant as a not-so-subtle nod to the character he decided to leave out.
Sorry to disappoint all you Robin stans out there.
