10 Movie Heroes Who Were Actually Suffering A Nervous Breakdown

7. John Rambo - Rambo

Murderholism is one of the lesser diagnosed addictions, but the effects can be just as devastating. John Rambo caught a terrible case of it in Vietnam, which followed him home and made him an outcast for life. He then travelled the world murdering various evil armies of differing nationalities, until he cast his weapons aside in the fourth instalment to catch snakes. The shame and guilt of his past actions hangs over him every day, leaving him withdrawn from the rest of the world. Like any addict he€™s terrified he€™ll slip again and become the monster he sees himself as; which is exactly what happens, seeing as it€™s a Rambo movie. Spilling blood again triggers a breakdown within Rambo, where any human side of him shuts down as he effortlessly murders all in his path. When he takes over a mounted machine gun in the finale it becomes his personal form of therapy; therapy that results in a lot of limbs separating from their original owners.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
