10 Movie Myths You Probably Believed
1. Gladiator - A Plane Didn't Invade A Pivotal Scene
You've all seen the image and a great deal of you have probably already found this out the hard way upon giving Ridley Scott's Oscar winning drama Gladiator a cheeky rewatch and a skilful pause at one point or another. But in case you haven't, we've got a little bit of bad news for you; there isn't actually a plane hovering around in the background during Maximus' epic "Are you not entertained?!" speech.
This frequently accepted myth made its way into many a mind a couple of years ago on the back of a YouTube video opting to use an image of Russel Crowe's leading character roaring in front of a crowd, with the vehicle photo-shopped into the background. It was so damn realistic that many people were convinced they'd completely overlooked the mistake during their previous watches of the bona fide classic.
However, one quick skim through the scene in question reveals that the editing crew behind the project hadn't completely missed a piece of technology that would've been a little out of place during Roman times. This was merely a cheeky tactic to sell a video, but one that tricked a great deal of film fans all the same.
