10 Movie Reboots You Didn’t Know Are Coming In 2018
3. Holmes And Watson
Sherlock Holmes is always being rebooted in one format or another, and since there hasn't been any movement on the mooted third instalment in the Robert Downey Jr series for some time, Columbia Pictures has pursued a more comedic take on the master detective.
Holmes And Watson will see funnyman Will Ferrell don the famous deer stalker hat to solve crimes alongside his esteemed colleague Doctor Watson, played by Ferrell's Stepbrothers co-star John C. Reilly.
The supporting cast is a best-of-British affair, with Rob Brydon as Inspector Lestrade, Ralph Fiennes as Moriarty and Hugh Laurie as Mycroft Holmes (a role that was played by his long-time collaborator Stephen Fry in the Downey Jr movies).
A spoof take on Sherlock Holmes is nothing new - Michael Caine and Ben Kingsley's 1988 comedy Without a Clue springs to mind - but Ferrell and Reilly bounced off each other well enough in Stepbrothers, so this could be good for a cheap laugh or two.
