10 Movies Delayed To "Get It Right" (That Still Got It Wrong)
1. Halloween: The Curse Of Michael Myers - Endless Recuts And An Untimely Death Can't Stop Mike Myers' Worst Outing
Moustapha Akkad may not be a household name, but the embattled producer should be recognized by horror fans for his fixation on saving the Halloween franchise, with Akkad’s efforts being behind almost every revival of the unkillable masked murderer Michael Myers.
Despite the relative failure of the series’ recent instalments, Akkad was insistent that Myers needed another cinematic outing, prompting him to purchase a script which explored the Celtic curse which kept Michael coming back (yes, really). Said script was revised more than ten times before production began, prompting cast member Danielle Harris to leave in protest due to her character being offed unceremoniously. Production was further delayed with the firing of one director, the replacing of another producer, and the unavoidable problem of weather disturbances onset.
The eventual film was delayed even further when test audiences despised the “Celtic cult curse” plotline (shocker), prompting extensive reshoots despite the fact that pivotal star Donald Pleasance had died in the interim. What was eventually released remains the series’ lowest point and most maligned entry, proving that stalling for time isn’t always enough to save a project.
