10 Movies That Just Got Cancelled

5. Transformers One Sequel

Transformers One was intended to be the first in a new franchise of animated Transformers movies, and though it was largely well-received by the critics and audiences who actually bothered to see it, it ended up tanking commercially.

Perhaps in part due to the film's lackluster marketing campaign, Transformers One ended its run with a poor $129.4 million global haul, immediately casting major doubt on the prospect of a sequel ever actually being produced. But the final nail in the coffin came a few months later, when Hasbro confirmed that they would no longer co-produce movies based on their toy projects, and only greenlight films entirely funded by outside studios.

Given that Hasbro co-produced the entire live-action Transformers franchise, it's quite a blow for the IP, as Paramount may be less-than-eager to continue funding these films solo, especially with Transformers One flopping and the prior live-action film, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, underperforming.

Paramount might take a lower-budget crack at an animated Transformers film again someday, but Transformers One evidently isn't getting a direct follow-up of any kind.
